I have a campaign, and one of my players has added a homebrew Subclass.
He quoted the following to me:
"Remember, private homebrew is automatically shared with other users in your campaigns and does not need to be shared with the community for players to access."
But I can't figure out how to see the brew. I've tried searching for the brew's name itself and for all the brews of his user in particular, but nothing shows up. What do?
Is the homebrew your friend's? If so, it is enough to check that the homebrew is in his/her Homebrew Collection, and the homebrew will be shared with all the players and the DM in the campaign. You could check the homebrew via your character builder.
Again, you need to allow homebrew on your character in Preferences. No need to make a new character.
Also, you can't search for the homebrew in the listing because those are published homebrew, not private. You must check the homebrew only via the builder.

Homebrew is allowed in preferences, but forgive me for this noobish question: friends? I don't see a friends list anywhere (might just be my blindness though) and I can't click on people's username in the Campaign. The player that uploaded the brew is a player in my campaign, if that's what you're asking?
EDIT: Maybe the most simple way is if you could guide me through what steps I need to take to see the brew - what to click, specifically?
You have to ask your player if he/she the homebrew in Collection. If it is so, you can access the homebrew subclass from the builder. Select the right class at the right level, and you should able to select the homebrew.

Alright, then I did understand you correct: l have to view it through the builder (what I meant with new character), I can just get an overview over the class, right?
How does this work for a monster? How do you view someone else' homebrew monster? They are a player in my campaign. It is in my collection but they cannot see it.
I have a different, but similar problem. The player can only see about half of the Homebrew things that i've made for them. They've got a spell (cantrip), an item, and a feat, but there are two other spells that do not show up when they search for it in their character interface. I've double checked that they are in My Collection. Any ideas?

You need to check on the character Preferences if homebrew content is enabled.
Ah, I can't see the brew unless I make a new character? I can't just view the brew?
OK, le'to get the full picture.

Friend = your player.
