Attempting to make a bladed shield for a player in my group. Found a spiked shield I like and was building it based on that weapon: 1d6 slashing damage, max dex bonus 2.
So when I create the item and attempt to use it in my character, it does the following:
Using the Modifier "Melee Weapon Attack" for the attack does not appear in the actions for the player. I had to add a custom action and copy the item information into it.
The Shield has a "Max 2 Dex Bonus" on it, but yet it does not seem to be in affect as my character I tested with has a +3 Dex Bonus and I removed all other armor.
If I'm doing something wrong or if anyone has tips, would be greatly appreciated.
It isn't so much that you are doing something wrong, you are just trying to do something DDB can't (therefore using a bunch of modifiers that don't work that way).
Items cant add actions yet (like attacks). I'm not sure what you are trying to limit about DEX bonus.
The idea was it was a shield with sharpened edges that could be used to attack with. This resulting in the user not being able to move to crazy or they could wound themselves. Thus the dex restriction.
The idea was based on another item. I figured a way to make things work though, thanks.
