I have a Kenku Arcane Trickster named Whip Crack and a major part of his backstory is he killed his slave master and took his whip (and also the sound of the whip as his name).
When I built him on OrcPub, I was able to give him a whip. But it appears that because the whip is a martial weapon, a rogue can't have one.
This is my first day working on the D&D Beyond character creator and I'd like to know if there's a way I can homebrew that into the character here.

Ah! I found the problem. I had the "Proficient" box checked on the equipment page.
That'll fix it.
Yup, you can use it, you just won't get the proficiency bonus when using it.
Thanks. I realize that. It's more of a flavor thing.
But it's pretty cool when he pulls it out in non-lethal combat.
