The modifiers don't specify shields, only armor. They would need to make entirely new modifiers that specify armor and shields. Probably too much work for something that won't come up often or is easily managed by the player (just don't equip shields).
A planned future homebrew update will require them to add/change several modifiers, it might get fixed then.

Specifically, Unarmored Defence and Movement. Equipping other armor turns it off, but not shields.
I imagine this is either for the sake of Animated Shield, or because thats how it was coded for Barbarian and nobody bothered to change it.
Anyhoo, its causing issues for some homebrew im working on, so just thought i'd drop by and request a fix.
