So I have access to the characters that are only available in the Players Handbook and the GGtR books. The only thing that I seem to be missing which is confusing me in the physical player's handbook Dark Elves (Drow) is an available subclass of elves, but here on this site it does not seem to be or if it is I can't seem to find it. I searched through the forum and nobody else seems to be complaining about this so I figure it is just something I am missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By Error! With a roll of the d20, I get... [roll]1d20[/roll]
I'll grant you I was using the basic copy (free) on here and comparing it to the hard copy that I had in my hand, but still it has every other race available except dark elf? That seems odd.

The Basic Rules is not the same as the Player's Handbook
The Basic Rules contains a selection of content from the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide and Monster Manual, but not all the content. For example, there is one subrace per race (hence no drow for elves), one subclass per class, no named spells (such as Tenser's Floating Disc, instead it's just Floating Disc) and some but not all of the monsters from the MM.
The Basic Rules don't contain anything from supplementary products such as Volo's Guide to Monsters or Xanathar's Guide to Everything.

The basic rules also don't have the forest gnome.
The basic rules were intended to have enough options to give new players a chance to experience d&d. So it gave all of the base races from PHB and up to 1 variant or 2 subraces (probably) to intrduce those concepts.

You bought the PHB on DDB? It is listed under the elf parent race.
