Homebrew background that doesnt have starting equipment set up correctly. Should work if you change backgrounds.
If you really want the homebrew background's starting equipment, then I suggest you or the creator make a copy of an existing background to learn how it is done.
Actually i created the Entertainer background using a copy of the Charlatan background, should be done correctly, an if it doesn`t, i really can`t imagine what can be causing the error.

Myself or another forum moderator will be able to access the linked unpublished homebrew and take a look to see if this is the cause of the issue.
Thank you! I believe I have fixed the issue. The "Equipment" was not quite set up correctly on the background. Here's a quick how-to for how best to enter these in:
1) Create a new equipment, and enter in the standard text of that equipment piece in the "Equipment Phrase" textbox. (Example: A musical instrument) 2) Select save. 3) The page should now load giving you the option of "Equipment Phrase Individual Choices". You can again enter here the equipment text. (Example: A musical instrument) 4) Select Add Choice Text. 5) In the field that appears below, select the appropriate category for the equipment. In this example I chose "Types of Gear", and from the next list chose "Musical Instrument". I then selected "Add Choice Data". 6) I double-checked and then saved from the top save from step #2.
I went in a refigured those equipment pieces and the background works properly on my test character. I would recommend removing the background from your character, refreshing, and then re-adding the background before trying to add starting equipment again.
If the error continues, please provide a link to the affected character (using the URL from your browser's address bar, not the share link), as there may be something else causing trouble, and we would be happy to help you troubleshoot it.

Hmm. Try adding starting equipment using the official charlatan background, then change it back after the fact.
