I noticed that there is a reference in the latest update video to sales tax. I am searching for a little clarification.
Adam mentioned that we would see 'Sales Tax show up in our cart'. Three thoughts are going around in my head:
If I remember right, in the US Sales Tax is added on at the end of a transaction in the States. For online services is this tax rendered at the rate from the source (ie the state that D&D Beyond's servers are in) or the recipient/customer? I know state laws govern this, so I have absolutely no idea as an outsider looking in.
Will this be applied internationally as well? I live in the UK; our Sales Tax equivalent is VAT, and is a flat 20% increase for this type of service. In the EU (current political situation notwithstanding), the point of supply is where the consumer is located for any business selling into the EU. Thus, our prices will go up a flat 20%. This will make it more expensive for EU users to use D&D Beyond that it will be to purchase the physical materials.
Will VAT be incorporated into the pricing structure or will we be told the VAT price in the same way US consumers get told the tax on goods (ie an additional cost)? There's strict laws and guidelines on displaying totals with 'non-optional taxes' excluded for us in the UK.
This may well be the death knell for me using D&D Beyond as a service. I think it's a fantastic idea, and while I have the books, the option to pay for the convenience of it all on one iPad, searchable and cross-referenced is great. But I can't justify accepting 20% increase where the books are VAT exempt, AND purchase of a Master Tier sub for my tables.
I've been overcharged for sales tax for years, now, as far as I can tell. I've notified D&D Beyond via the support request system a couple of times, and gotten no response. At this point, I think this might be intentional theft, but I'd love to read a response from the D&D Beyond team.

More comprehensive details will be coming with regards to the implementation of sales tax.
Any idea when? It's being implemented in a week and a half at this point.
More detail would definitely be good please
