I am trying to create a sub class for the Druid for one of my players, not for publication. The issue I am facing is adding Circle Spells into the class to have them be permanently prepared.
I created the Class Feature, then went to Add a Spell, I'm trying to add Healing Spirit into it. However, this spell does not populate in the drop down. Its official content so I figured it should be, but its not there. Instead I can only find Heal, Healing Word, Mass Heal, etc.
Is there something I am doing wrong or is this a bug?
I have not personally purchased it on my account. One of my players has it unlocked in my campaign. Do I have to personally own content in order to use it in any homebrew content I create?
Except if that was the case, other spells from Xanathar's would not show up. Such as Thunderclap. Or Earth Tremor. I'm trying to go through and figure out why this spell isn't showing up, but I can't find a good reason why it isn't.
Infestation, another Druid Spell, is also not showing. But Create Bonfire, and Gust both do. Does this help puzzle it out a bit more? I can keep going through the list...

Correct. You can view and use it in a character in the campaign, but in order to use it in homebrew or a character not in a campaign, you need to own it yourself.
This only further adds to my confusion then... Other spells introduced outside of core rules also are coming up? Why would this be if all I should have access to for homebrewing content is base rules....
The spells you are listing as having access for (ie Thunderclap) were originally published in the Elemental Evil supplement which was free. Then they were reprinted in Xanathar's Guide.
Healing Spirit has only ever been printed in Xanathar's and it requires purchase to unlock.
That would appear to make more sense. Thank you for the information. Regardless, it looks like I won't be able to create the homebrew I had in mind without making a bit more purchases. Thanks to all of you for helping me to understand what was going on. This is resolved.

Have you purchased the Healing Spirit spell, or Xanathar's Guide to Everything where the spell appears?

IDK. You would have to give an example. Maybe you own some spells.
