I have a character with a custom Natural Attack, and the bonus damage appears to be calculating incorrectly.
Per my understanding, the damage should be Base Damage : (1 Dx) + (Dex Bonus or Strength Bonus) + (any additional bonuses due to equipment). In this case, it should be 1d10+ 5 (Dex) +1(Magic Item) for a total of 1d10 +6.
However, for all Natural Attacks that I add, the Damage is calculated as 1d10 + 11. Where is the additional +5 coming from? If I add a Finesse Weapon (as opposed to a Natural Attack) the damage calculates as expected, with a bonus damage of +6.
I'm not sure if it's calculating incorrectly, or if there's something about Natural Attacks I'm unaware of.
Sounds like a problem with homebrew. Is the natural weapon a custom action or created by homebrew? Is the item that +1s the attack official or homebrew?
My guess is the natural weapon is homebrew and you set it up to use DEX for the weapon modifier and added DEX to damage, thus doubling the ability mod added to damage, because the weapon mod is automatically added to damage.
You can post links to your character and homebrew (not the share link and doesn't need to be published) if you can't figure it out and a mod can help.
Hello! Looks like the Natural Weapon Master feat grants a bonus to damage equal to DEX. If you remove the primary stat from the modifier on that feat, it should calculate to +6 as expected.

The Natural Weapon is a custom action, and the +1 is official - Insignia of Claws.
Hmm... I can't replicate it. Did you put something in the fixed value for damage? Do you have any other homebrew on the character?
Again copy the character sheet URL, and post it for a mod to check.
Thanks for the input and advice... much appreciated!
Well... as the man said - any mods, please take a look and let me know how I screwed it up!

Thank you!
actually... upon further review... even Unarmed Strike seems to have an extra +4 damage. I don't get it.
Post links for the homebrew race, the homebrew rogue subclass, and the homebrew feat as well.
Remember when I said it sounded like a homebrew issue? It is probably one of those.

although I've gone through the modifications with a fine tooth comb, and I don't think it's an issue there...

MellieDM -
that did it... I actually just removed the modifier entirely, as it's just as easy to manually manage through the Custom Action tab.
Thank you! That's been driving me crazy...
Cheers!
