Odd issue with damage bonus from weapons and ability modifiers. I have noticed it hasn't been working quite correctly. On a lvl 3 dwarf fighter caviler i have with dueling when the lance is equipped but not mounted or wielding a shield it instantly adds the additional 2 damage. When I was experimenting and made a battle master artificer and just made it lvl 20 to look at it it some how with a +2 weapon and 5 int got a plus 9 damage to attacks... I have seen this issue on several different characters where it is not adding the correct amount of damage bonus on attacks.
For now the dwarf is ddb.ac/characters/13712939/IFp8AF

I don't see any issues with the dwarf (although you have not attuned to the magic lance). Dueling does not require wielding a shield (or being mounted), all it needs is not having a second weapon. Also DnDBeyond does not track whether you are mounted or not, so you'll have to keep tracking of your disadvantage with the lance attacks while not riding a mount.
About the artificer, the information you gave is insufficient to figure out what is happening. We could give you a flood of guesses, but without more details they will just be wild guesses and what ifs. Not to mention about the "several characters" - in the past most of the time someone thought the damage was calculated incorrectly, it turned out there was an overlooked feature / misread rule in effect, and the calculation was indeed correct.

--[ Natural 20 - that's how I roll! ]-- We've stopped this OGL madness, but stay vigilant, they tried it once, they can try it again.
The character sheet doesn't read "special" as two-handed. It also has no way to track if you are mounted (currently). Because of that, it thinks the lance is a one handed weapon, so applies the dueling bonus.
