I have a Sorc/cleric and am using the character builder on this site. When I took the first level of Cleric (after 3 lvl Sorc) I notice that the weapon proficiency and the heavy armor proficiency of the cleric got added. According to the PHB, in Multi-classing, when I took a level of Cleric, I should have not received the weapon profs and the heavy armor prof.
I'd like to have them, but the team i play with (who use hardback books don't like it. Just thought I'd say something.
Did you take the Tempest, Twilight, or War domain as your cleric subclass? Those subclasses grants proficiency in heavy armor and martial weapons at level 1. If so you're not getting it from cleric general proficiencies (which don't include either of those two things).
The multiclass rules say you only get light armor, medium armor, and shield proficiencies from the cleric's proficiencies. The cleric class does not have heavy armor or martial weapon proficiency, these proficiencies are granted by a subclass feature which is not effected by that rule.
