So I'm trying to view info about the characters on the streams of others who are using the overlay, but cannot get them to pop up. I have the "visible" option checked, but the characters are still not appearing. I've tried to disable the app, re-able it, disconnect my account, reconnect, un- and reinstall and still to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.
Livestreams. I know it doesn't work duing VODs. I also tried it in like a private browser tab to make sure it wasn't a program I had running preventing it, and still no luck.
Hi there Tuesday9am, I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with your Twitch overlay. I appreciate how thorough you're being with the information you're providing here!
To help a bit more: What browser are you using for this, and what version of that browser?
Thank you!
Edit: Hey again! On re-reading your post, it seems you're looking to activate the extension on the streams of others. The configuration options you're discussing here are only for your own stream, not for the streams of others.
When viewing a stream where a streamer has decided to use the extension, you'll only need to click the D&D Beyond styled "B" on the stream in order to activate the overlay.
When viewing a live broadcast from a streamer who is using this extension, are you able to see that 'B'?
1) I tried in both Firefox and IE browsers with no luck in both regular browsers and hidden browsers in case it was an extension blocking it.
2) I am able to see the "B" and have the visible area checked (to make it visible). I just checked another stream now utilizing the feature and it is still not working. Unless I need to hover over an area to make it initially pop up, it isn't visible.
I'm happy to post screen shots or message screenshots if that will be helpful.
Thank you! Just to clarify, please correct me if I have any details wrong:
You were viewing a live-stream where the streamers had the Beyond Extension running.
You could see the "B" on that streamer's livestream, and could check "Visible".
After checking visible, nothing appeared?
If that all sounds correct:
If you hovered over one side of the screen or another, did it appear then? If so, did you click the "lock" icon on the overlay? This would then 'lock' the overlay to the screen, so it always appears as opposed to collapsing when you don't use it.
I've tried both sides and no overlay seems to pop up. It had previously worked but I didn't use twitch on my desktop for about 2 to 3 months. When I originally posted , I was back in my desktop, but the overlay has disappeared. It's possible it is a twitch issue and not you all, but I figured you so would be more friendly to at least get me started on solving this.
Tried again tonight. I could get it to pop up on one channel on my old, broken computer in Google chrome (but no other browser). At the same time on the same channel tried on a separate computer with a freshly downloaded Google chrome browser (no extensions, add ons, etc.) and wouldn't work. I did take a video.
Same test channel - doesn't work on either computer in Firefox
On the video we aren't quite able to see the right side of the second computer, which is where we would hope to be able to find the hover-- when you're next viewing a stream with the extension enabled, does the extension logo appear when hovered? Here's an image to help:
There have been cases of Twitch failing to load overlay extensions, so it is difficult to know if this is a Twitch-side issue or otherwise, but it's possible that Twitch is failing to load the extension. As you're doing a fresh Chrome install, the team believes that may be the most likely cause, as nothing else on your browser would be preventing access to it.
Yes, each time the logo does appear and is set to visible. Just to recap, I used to be able to watch it on the first computer and the overlay worked fine. I then didn't watch live videos for a few months so didn't try it out. I tried again in the first computer in November\December and it no longer worked there either (at the time). For several reasons I got the new computer in January and it is not working there either. That video was the first time I could just it to work on any channel featuring findings about November\December. Of course it was on the computer I no longer to regularly use. ,:)
Thank you for your continued help on this.
If twitch is failing to load it, I'm guessing my best bet is to reach out to them?
So if the "B" does load on the stream, but activating it doesn't get it to load, this would be a problem not with Twitch, but with something else we haven't solved here yet.
If the "B" isn't loading, then Twitch is not loading it.
As you've affirmed that the "B" is loading on the stream, it sounds like the issue would be the extension, browser, or ISP. I'll pass along the updated info and see if we can sort out anything else to test. I'll keep you posted with any new information I can pass your way.
This is also happening for me! I can't see it when I watch a stream, but when someone hosts a stream that has the overlay I can see it on the hosters, which is weird. I also use Chrome btw.

When you are watching the live-stream where the producers have chosen to use the extension, does the "B" D&D Beyond icon appear on the right side of the stream when you hover?

You doing it for live streams or for ones viewed on playback in the VODs?

Thank you for the updates! Could you provide a link to the video? It might be helpful for me to pass on to the team!

Thank you! I am passing along the information!

I answered your direct message about twitch extension requests.
This extension purely does not work. It's installed, activated, I run the stream, and no one sees anything. Useless.
