I'm trying to create a half-orc barbarian with intimidation, and it does not appear in the options for my two starting proficiencies. It is listed as one of the skills I should be able to select, but it's not in the dropdown menu. I'm a new player, so... am I missing something? Or is this a bug?

You already have it, since half-orcs automatically get it.
