Hi, I'm the Dm for a private homebrew campaign and one of my payers who is in the campaign frequently lets me know that they can't access some or all of their character sheet, (Whoops a beholder appeared and ruined everything page) I was editing a new item the other day for them, and rather suddenly after the session they now can't access their spells section from their sheet. I figured, well i suppose since we use discord for voice chat, i could just go to it, and screenshot their individual spells and send them to them. But alas, I as the DM from the campaign I also get the beholder page now too. I've double and triple checked that the item isn't the bug, and have no idea where things aren't working. But its frustrating the player who really wanted to continue and as a heavy spellcaster now can no longer access their most used abilities. All other parts of their sheet appear to be working fine, but the spells section is missing.
The spells section bugging out is nearly always caused by something homebrew on the character. Usually it's an item that has >9 charges for a spell. Having >9 charges tells DNDBeyond that the spell can be cast at >9th level - so it tries to display 10th level or higher spells - which it can't do - so it bugs out. (Or something like that anyway)
Hello Moeraki014, as Emmber notes this is caused by a homebrew item with incorrect charges. If you provide a link to the affected character I can help you identify the item causing the issue.
I've since figured out which homebrew item caused it to break, but what was most troubling, was that a week ago the (Feat) wasn't broken at all. It worked fine and had no conflicts with characters. I'm not entirely sure what changed, but I suspect that it provided a spell of a level that the caster couldn't cast. (only thing that makes sense) The flavor text implies that it is cast beyond 9th level, but in game mechanics only allow for it to cast at 9th level.
