In the character builder, if I choose Feral Tiefling as the race of my character, the tool requires me to choose one of the variant tiefling abilities (Hellfire, Winged, etc.). From reading the SCAG, the variant abilities should just be an alternate option in addition to the base Infernal Legacy ability regardless of Feral or normal Tiefling. The Race compendium, however is correct and matches my interpretation of the SCAG.
