According to Jeremy Crawford’s replies on Sage Advice after the spell creates the weapon, attacks are made similar to any other melee weapon attack and would include the STR or DEX modifier (finesse).

Bumping, as this is still an issue!
Bump because I learned of this infuriating issue just today.
Hate to necropost, but this is still an issue. Shadow Blade still does not have an attack roll on character sheets.
