I've noticed that there are two formatting styles currently used for the material components of spells. In the first case, the material components are surrounded by parentheses and in the second case they are not. A good example of this can be seen in Arcanist's Magic Aura which lists the material components inside parentheses and Nystul’s Magic Aura which doesn't, even though the spells are essentially the same.
It seems like all of the spells that are in the basic rules follow the first case, while spells from the Elemental Evil Player's Companion, Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide, as well as those spell in the Player's Handbook that aren't in the Basic Rules follow the second case.
