My players' character is a Monk with a Wand able to cast Jim's Magic Missile spell from Ac Inc. I intended for it to use their higher stat of Wis, Int, or Cha, but I can't get it to use anything but intelligence. I've made a nonpublished Jim's Magic Missile (wis) trying to change the stat by adding it to the Ranger spell list, but now the Monk is showing both versions of the spell and both using Intelligence still. What do I need to do to make it use Wisdom?
Thank you! All of those links were super helpful, I think I understand what you're hoping to do now. At this time, magic items cannot be set to have a spellcasting modifier based on the character's abilities. Your item is using no ability score, and only adding the proficiency bonus (+3) for the character to the spell. I'm happy to pass along the request for the ability to do this to the team, though!
Knowing that I can stop attempting to figure it out is itself a huge help!
Side note, I've put in a few applications to DNDbeyond (I'm a marketing student). Hopefully, it will go well and I'll be able to continue learning from you

You can just use the "Manage Custom Actions" function is at the top right corner of the Action box.
Hi there McFloobenHoober, could you please provide a link to the homebrew item?
The item, spell, and character I'm working with currently. If there's a better/cleaner way to do this I would appreciate the assistance, MellieDM.
