I'm trying to get clarification, and find out if the builder is incorrect, or if the book wording is poor.
The example they give in the book is as follows (seems to be highlighting Hill Dwarves): "For example, if the Ability Score Increase trait of your race or subrace increases your Constitution by 2 and your Wisdom by 1, you could instead increase your Intelligence by 2 and your Charisma by 1."
However, it seems you cannot change the subrace stat increase. Hill Dwarves, you can swap the +2 con, same for Mountain Dwarves, but the respective +1 wis, or +2 str, is not changeable. I also confirmed on Halflings, and others.
So, is the intention that you SHOULD be able to change the subrace stats, and the builder isn't allowing this. Or is the book incorrect, where the subrace stats can't be adjusted?

I am still having this issue with all four subraces I have tried (hill dwarf, shadar-kai elf, earth genasi, and githyanki). Additionally, the special tiefling races (in this case, levistus tiefling) isn't allowing me to edit ability scores at all.

Never mind, I just realized there are multiple ability score changes under the options. Problem is resolved for all, including the tiefling heritages.
