I'm new to this game (as in I've started to learn more than just the title of the game in the past few days) and I've run into an issue on my first character. I can't seem to find the perception option in my Ranger proficiencies. I thought that it might just be that I was reading it wrong, but when I went to check on a rogue, it was the same problem. Again I'm very new, so chances are that its just me. But I just wanted to put it out there and see if anyone could tell me what, if anything, I'm doing wrong.
Yep. Your character is an elf, a race which already gives the proficiency in Perception. That is my Perception is not selectable on the skill proficiency list of the class.

Check that the proficiency in Perception is already given by a racial feature or the background.
This is my character that I'm having troubles with. My only character at the moment actually.

Awesome, thank you for the quick response. I had no idea what was going on. I figured I was just unlucky. Happy Thanksgiving.
