Fighting style is allowing you to take the same fighting style if you have some levels in ranger and fighter. For example I have a level 5 ranger level 2 fighter and was able to choose archery as my fighting style twice and get +4 to ranged attacks.
thanks for the report - unfortunately due to the way things were designed, this is a known limitation and has been since day one. It is definitely something that we'd like to resolve at some point however!
The rules specifically state that you should not take the same fighting style multiple times.
You are welcome to override this for your games, as a homebrew rule, if you like.
