This is (most likely) because the spells are from the SRD which strips out all Wotc proprietary (copywritten) naming. I am assuming if you sign us and pay money you will get access to the larger spell list and full names.
Bigby, Drawmij, Mordekainen, these names aren't Open Content, so in order for the spells to be included in the SRD under the OGL, they have to be renamed. That definitely won't change for any free SRD version, but if/when there is paid content for the PHB, etc, those complete and original spell names will be there.
Sorry for resuscitating the topic, but I had this same question and found this topic by Google. So in order to help people who in the future have the same doubt, I compared the names that change between the SRD and PHB versions of the spells.
Just seems like a weird quirk. There's obviously a reason for it, but hopefully it changes for release. Seems weird to have to rename spells.
yeah i noticed some of the spells are renamed as well. Like Drawmij's Instant Summons is renamed Instant Summons.
Hell yeah I am going to Polymorph the boss into a Rabbit. I have always wanted a being a pure evil stuffed into a ball of fluff.

As long as I know what the "new" name refers to I really don't care what it's renamed to.

Hello guys.

Enjoy.
