I've attempted to make some homebrew character races before, but when I went to try and publish them they weren't deemed acceptable as the name of the race wasn't an English word.
While I wasn't certain at first that the name was the issue as I had finished writing the entire thing before seeing that it had this problem, but when I started a new one and went back to finish it later I found that it had the same issue even though the only text that I had entered was the name of the race ("Kefaal"), a short placeholder description ("Octopus people.") and the racial trait introduction ("Your kefaal character has the following racial traits.").
Does anybody know any ways of getting around this?
I can tell you now that it will have ZERO to do with it not being an English word considering the host of race names in Homebrew, many of which are NOT even found in the english dictionary.
However, what you may find happens is if you copy and paste something from a word document or the likes and it picks up a hidden character when doing it. I had it doing the same with the race I am working on now, its since stopped doing so.
I wouldnt worry about it too much unless you plan on actually publishing the race since it doesnt affect anything other than that.

Can you link to the homebrew that you've made? I'm pretty sure that the error you're getting isn't because of the title of the race, but likely an issue with some other text field. Most common causes are:
Writing descriptions in non-english languages
Using too short descriptions such as a single sentence
Using words such as "placeholder", "pending" or "tbc"
The reason for this is that the expectation for publishing homebrew is that it's a full and finished creation made in English with an adequate amount of descriptive text
The title says it all, really.
