I have multiple files I share with my party that contain links to D&D Beyond for reference. The problem is that I can never be sure if the links I copy and paste into my documents will actually work or not. Sometimes they'll go the the item/monster/whatever that I linked to, but it seems like most of the time they redirect to the marketplace to the book where the content is found.
Some applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel don't open links in your default browser as you'd expect. Instead, they'll open in Edge/IE (in the background) and then redirect to your default browser. This causes an issue if you're not signed in on Edge/IE:
You click the link
The application opens the link in Edge/IE
D&D Beyond isn't signed in, so immediately redirects you to the marketplace
Edge/IE then pushes the now redirected link to your browser of choice
You see the marketplace regardless of if you own the content or not
This is an issue I have encountered myself when using Excel to track party inventory. The only solutions are:
Sign into D&D Beyond on Edge/IE first so that it doesn't redirect to the marketplace
Copy the link manually and paste it into your browser of choice

Signing into Edge seemed to help. Clicking on links inside of Excel or Google Docs is now going to the correct place. Thanks!

For instance, this link https://www.dndbeyond.com/magic-items/acheron-blade should go to Acheron Blade, but it actually goes to https://www.dndbeyond.com/marketplace/sourcebooks/explorers-guide-to-wildemount which is not helpful at all.
How can I stop this from happening? How can I make sure that links I copy will actually go where they're supposed to?
Thanks
It does that because the person clicking on the link does not own EGtW.
i can roll nat 1s on command

Glad to help, it's infuriating I know, but nothing DDB can do unfortunately
