I second this request. Right now I'm using a javascript tool I wrote to keep track of it. It works well, but it would be much more convenient if I could track the points at the top of the Spells section of the character sheet.
My group is using it in a campain I just started and for some it’s easy to track for others it’s tough... I even have a few newer players that use dnd beyond exclusively and this would help immensely
Hell yes. Spell slots is kind of annoying. I used to play Rolemaster and then HARP, and I loved the spell point system. You could scale the strength of you spell based on how many points you spent too. I guess 5E sort of does that, but slots just seems overly complicated. I play with VERY young kids, the oldest is 9, and sure, they may be young for the game but the reason I switched to D&D again is it was simpler, I was bummed to see that spells were not as simple as the system I just left behind after 25 years.
Duh. I just found the spell points variant on pg 288 (?) of the DMG. I'll be using this...thank you! It seems to equal the spell slot charts well, trick is to ROUND UP when dividing for the classes that are not fully dedicated spell users, otherwise classes like the Eldritch Knight will be stiffed.
Pertaining to the actual question of this thread ( did I mention I have small children who drain my own spell points?) it would be great to have that feature on the character sheet.
I’ll add my name to the list of people who would like to see this feature. And, when the feature is implemented it would be great if you include an option for the DM to set spell point values for each spell level.
It's almost as if the devs are deliberately not answering questions about spell points. Have I missed a post somewhere? I've been searching the Forums, but the search engine here leaves a lot to be desired, as does dev responsiveness. I've been hoping for at least an answer on whether Spell Points are on the roadmap for months. I'm about to start researching how I can get a refund for the over 500 bucks I've spent on this already.
I really hope they do consider implementing it at some point, I understand it'll be a fair amount of work- but I houserule sorcerers to work exclusively off of it, and I know that some other DMs do as well, so it would be nice if it became a thing.
Please say spell points get implemented soon! It's such a better system plus I've got a homebrew world were the lore works perfectly with it! I can't see it being that hard to put into the character sheets. None of the spells need changing as spell levels are still in play, it's just replacing one tick box with another
It would be great if the special rules (such as spell points) were implemented from DMG into D&DB. There's plenty I'd love to use, but won't be due to them not being available here.
I just made these feats that you can add if you use the "Manage Feats" on your character sheet. Should do the trick in the meantime, but only work if you keep to your caster levels (all levels in pure spellcaster, half spellcaster, or third spellcaster)

any chance to see this variant rule as an option on character sheets??

Still no response at all to this question? Please, devs... are we going to get spell points?
I’ll second this as a request

With the new character sheets out I can see this being a nice option to put in for the player/DM to choose.

Any chance of this gaining traction?
My current idea of how to jury rig this is to attach it through an item with charges and treat the charges as the spell points.
sort of like, an arcane focus or a holy symbol.

Pure Spellcaster (Bard, Cleric, Druid, Sorcerer, Wizard): https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/feats/43064-spell-points
Half Caster (Paladin, Ranger): https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/feats/43066-spell-points-half-caster
Third Caster (Eldritch Knight, Arcane Trickster): https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/feats/43068-spell-points-third-caster
Thank you, times eight million, four hundred and seventy-eight.
Thank you!
However, the Pure Spellcaster Feat is no longer active. Though the 1/2 and 1/3 are. Did it get deactivated?
