Could someone explain the "limited uses" aspect of the wildfire spirit? I don't see any reference to "limited uses" in Tasha's. Is that a reference to its available hit points?
Wildshape says this: "You can use this feature twice. You regain expended uses when you finish a short or long rest." Wildfire Spirit says "As an action, you can expend one use of your Wild Shape feature to summon your wildfire spirit, rather than assuming a beast form." The limited use refers to the number of times you can summon it before taking a short or long rest.
This is reflected in the fact that the Wild Shape entry on the character sheet has two checkboxes. There are no checkboxes for the Summon Wildfire Spirit, because what you see on the actions sheet of the tab is sorted as the bonus action to command it. This is because they don't have a way to cross-check between summoning the wildfire spirit versus regular wildshaping. So you're supposed to keep track of both in the regular Wild Shape checkboxes.
Oh - so currently my druid has 20 uses. Does that mean that once I summon it, I check off 1 of my 2 wildshape boxes and then, each time I use my bonus action I can command it and those commands are limited to 20 times before the spirit disappears? Otherwise, I just don't get what the 20 "uses" are for when I only have 2 wild shape uses.
The limited uses are listed under the Wild Shape section (2 per long rest until level 20). You use one of your Wild Shape limited uses to summon the Wildfire Spirit. Therefore you can summon it up to twice per long rest.
The 20 HP (I'm guessing you're 3rd level) is the number of HP the Wildfire Spirit has (5 + (5 times your level)).
The Wildfire Spirit is a pet, with AC and HP, like a Ranger Beast Master pet.
You can command your pet, using your bonus action, every turn. However, your Wildfire Spirit only sticks around for an hour at a time, or until it gets killed, whichever is first.
Tangentially related to this. The spirit's Firey Teleportation can only be used once per short or long rest. Yet this is mentioned nowhere in the DDB statblock; bizarrely...

... No? Why do you think this? Fiery Teleportation is usable as an Action any time it has an Action available.

You have to expend a use of your wildshape to summon it, and wildshape is limited use.

what does "limited use" mean? Is that the number of times I can summon it or the limited uses the wildspirit's HP? *confused*

(Yes - I'm being a Fool of a Took)
OK, I'm stumped on where you'd be seeing 20 uses. Can you link to your character sheet?

That number you are seeing with the - XXX + around it is the spirit's hitpoints.

After poking around, it seems to have been a hold over from the UA phase. I must've been working with old data. Sorry, all!
