This is not a terribly complicated thing to do but certainly not something I would expect to be general knowledge. The easiest thing to do would be to ask a friend who draws digitally or knows how to do some very basic programming to help you (programing isn't necessary I am just trying to ensure they have a base knowledge of computer software that should result in success) to help you save copies of all of your files in a smaller format. They should be able to use any program you have to handle graphics and shrink them for you without cropping them.
Second to that you are on the right track for what you want to do. When saving your file you want to pick a lower resolution, from very high to medium something like that. It may allow you to specify the number of pixels per inch, check and see what it is at currently cut it down to 72 if it is higher this will still give you great images on the web. If the image is already at 72 pixels but the dimensions are very large like 1,000+ pixels or more in length and width cut the size in half leaving the pixels per inch at 72. Essentially you are trying to make the image blurrier but not to the point you can actually notice it, that is how you lower the file size.
Hope that helps.

It would've been helpful to know that many of the Tactical Maps Reincarnated file-sizes are too large for use in Roll20 (10MB file size max).
You can always open them in an image editor and save them out at a lower file size

Unfortunately, I'm not that tech savvy with manipulating image files.
I opened it in paint and cropped it down, thinking smaller would result in a smaller file size.
Tried saving in various file formats .PNG, .BMP, .JPEG, .GIF etc but nothing ends up under the 10MB filesize?
