D&D Beyond could very well benefit from an enhanced notes system. There are many players who would love to have all their notes and characters in one place. While you should keep the traditional Notes system, give the option for players to use the advanced system if desired.
Add a button on your Character Sheet or Campaign that opens up a large notes page called a "Journal"
Divide the Journal between an "In Character" and "Out of Character" Journal [This could be an optional choice for Roleplay]
The Journal can have different pages added to it. Each page can be customized for different topics. For example; Towns, People, Quests, Monsters... Etc.
Add a section that has "Session Notes" that can keep track of every session played. Then saved in a list with all previous sessions.
Add a "To do List"
Each Page can have folders to different topics and can be toggled between a List format, Or a Tile format. Tiles allow for pictures to be loaded in which is very helpful for characters.
Each "Note" can be changed to different formats. "Blank" for a traditional formatting, "Locations" for Cities/Towns and "Characters" that come with "Race, Affinity, Connection, Affiliation" - Each neatly sectioned with a larger blank notes section for general information. You could add folders for Friends, Family or your Enemies.
