Spells and monsters should list on their entry which book or other source they come from. Player's Handbook, Monster Manual, Volo's, Elemental Evil, etc.

They do. Look at the bottom right of each entry, there you will find the following text: Systems Reference Document
The Systems Reference Document is the source for all entries on the page for the beta phase one.
That's not what I'm referring to. The entries ought to point to where the spell or monster can be found, such as the Player's Handbook or Monster Manual.
If this is something simply has a placeholder for now and will be updated later, that's fine. But I've never heard of a "Systems Reference Document" before now, and seeing that text at the bottom of every entry does not strike me as helpful to anyone.
It DOES say what the creatures and spells are from; The 5e System Resource Document. It's a free document that's been around since 5e launched...
In the furture, thay will likely add more things from Volo's, SCAG, MM, and all that jazz, and when they do it will say that's where it's from. Thay will also likely say if something is in multiple books, like many of the spells that are in both the SRD and the PHB.
It seems like some don't understand what you are saying. I get it. The entries should reference one of the standard "books". System Reference Document is not something that we're going to flip to if you want to see it in the book.
It will list the books, however the SRD is the only thing they have in the system as of yet. Once they get other books in the system, it'll do exactly what you're asking.

They already have this for monsters and spells. It's at the bottom of their entry. These all come from the Systems Reference Document.
