I love the idea of digital and physical pack. I've wanted this for a long time it is great to see it come to fruition.
However, you will see many people not do the package due to $13 in shipping costs! They'll wait for the content to be released at their local store or on Amazon for close to the same pricing. Even if it's a bit more it's not going to be 30% more which is the approximation of $25 plus $13 in shipping. ('Pack'price minus 'digital only' price plus shipping price)
In short shipping costs are ridiculous.
It's not fair to have that. You may want to join forces with Amazon so you can offer free shipping and utilize their services.
I've supported you guys since the beginning and I look forward to your continued growth.
Why yes, yes they are... But that's a result of stuff happening in the world right now. Gas and oil prices are extremely high, "last mile" shipping (fulfillment warehouses to your door) have gone way up. It's probably not as simple as saying "join forces with Amazon". That may actually cost WotC money, just to save me and you a few bucks. And they're already costing themselves money by bundling physical and digital packages so that we can save money that way.
Would you rather they listed the cost as $75 and free shipping? Instead of $60 and $13 shipping?
I mean for me in Canada I was given one option of $43 (what appears to be USD) shipping bringing the total to over $100 for the basic book. It's actually significantly cheaper for me to buy them separate certainly seems an odd offering. I certainly won't be purchasing bundles just for early access if it's that much of a premium.

I'm pretty mentally limited myself...so that woulda TOTALLY worked on me.
🤣🤣🤣 It's a psychological thing - most people would rather see, and pay for, something that's "$75 + free shipping" than "$60 + $10 shipping", even though the latter choice is cheaper... People just really hate paying for shipping 😅😅

Agreed and my personal experience with wizards shipping means you should expect duties on top of that. Worst case being roughly sales taxes (15% in my case) + up to 20$ for the broker fee, regardless of what they wrote in their FAQ.
Has there been clarity posted anywhere on whether you still get the digital version if you buy the physical book elsewhere? For example, I'd love to grab the alt-cover for Dragonlance but I'd also like to have it available here.
I haven't seen anything posted either way about this.

Nothing official yet but it seems like the standalone physical book might be the book only because the dndbeyond key is sent by email when you order the bundle. That means it's not an insert in the book.
But the digital book can be purchased separately on dndbeyond right now.

Thanks, that's kind of what I assumed.
Fair enough too, they did say it was a test & learn, and I've got a feeling it'll work out cheaper for me buying things separately since I'm in Australia (this time at least).
So I am a little confused, between the price of the bundle and the shipping added on why wouldn't I just buy each separately? What do I really get out of this bundle besides early access to the digital?

The early access, that's all. Or the boardgame if you go for the deluxe package.
If you're in the US, you get a small overall price reduction but pretty much everybody else ends up paying more for no real reason.

I mean... I'd like to have the alternate cover of Dragonlance and buy the bundle, but I'm in europe, so that means that I would have to pay 83 dollars of shipping?

This very bad for anyone who's not in the US.
Endy.
From some of the comments I've read, you can switch to the European store which has more sensible shipping options for you. Check that out if that's something you're interested in.

You can save a little bit of money if you live in the United States, but pretty much everywhere else, you'll pay more.
Just weighing in: very glad to see these bundles, and I'm not even (that) angry about the price.
However, until I can buy them at my FLGS, it's still a hard no. Gotta support that brick and mortar.
You do not.

Thanks for linking that, I don't think it was up when I asked my question.
