Adding to wishlist :). Virtual Tabletop. I know, I know (not a focus).
However, hear me out. Online D&D has exploded. I'm an old-timer that was DM'ing in person my one group for over 25 years. Love it. Only regret couldn't find people to DM so I could actually play.
Then something magical happened. I discovered online D&D via skype, discord, roll20, and fantasy grounds etc. Then DnDBeyond.com came along. Now I'm fortunate enough to be to be playing in over 5 campaigns (One I DM). Found a new job in a new city. So my in-person group went online with me. If DnDBeyond.com could one day become the one-stop shop. It would be wonderful.
I know, I know (not a focus). But you'd dominate the market. :). One can dream :).
Thanks for listening/reading,
Envaris

Many have said the same thing including myself over and over. I guess we will have to be patient to see if it ever gets added to the radar.

Roll the dice and play the game, I’m not here to listen to your politics.
“But this isn’t right. You’re meant to charge in, sword drawn, banner flying-that’s what all the other knights did!” “Yeah, right before they burst into flame.”
Personally, I'd be happier if they go on with the collaboration with Roll20 that was mentioned. There already are very good VTT options out there, it would be counter-productive for DDB to divert resources, time and focus on something so vastly different than what they have been and are working on right now, and trying to place themselves in a "market" that already has its two well defined poles (Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds). Much more useful would be to find the proper deal with someone like Roll20 to integrate what DDB can offer in their own ecosystem, allowing for each company to focus on what their strategy has been so far, but getting advantage for the other side's development and improvements as well. I believe it would also incentivise the use of both platforms for those users on either side interested.

I'd like that as well. However, I think the two are too much in competition with each other. Roll20 is licensed to sell WoTC products as well. I don't think they'd give up that revenue stream to integrate with character sheets. And I don't think they'd do "proper" character sheet integration.
Also, Roll20 has built themselves at the VTT for many different games not DnD specifically. As generalists they lack the specialty focus to take VTT to the next level for D&D. If you look at the quality and work put into DnDBeyond.com character sheets alone. If that level of due diligence was put into a VTT we'd get a much superior product. Lastly, data. DnDBeyond.com is big into analytics (or at least much bigger than any of the competition). They'll never get the data from Roll20 to have cool analytics about what is happening at the virtual table.
Although the Twitch Integration they showed was concept. I think that's exciting even for non-streaming groups/DMs potentially. Weave that together into a re-imagined VTT and I'm sold :).
Sincerely,
Envaris

I currently use Roll20 as a tool in my in-person game. It's the best VTT I've found, but it is still not what I'd like to see. The tool can be very slow. By trying to be generic enough for any game, it doesn't actually automate enough of D&D's rules for you, forcing you to make your own macros. The API is clunky. Etc. For these reasons, I hope that D&D Beyond, which is focused on D&D (obviously), does not integrate with Roll20.
I also understand that it is not a priority for Curse to create their own VTT solution, as there are more important features core to the purpose of DNDB that they want to finish first.
It is with these points in mind that I reiterate, once again, my hope that Curse will release a public API for D&D Beyond soon. With a public API, a third party could create a new VTT built specifically around D&D.
I've been using Roll20 for several years now and ran through several campaigns, and although I have had the opportunity to know roll20.net inside and out, most my games have run with some sort of design flaw, server problem, api issue, or lag. So I think there are definite improvements (and not just for these improvements but many more could) to be made. I'd also hate to think that Wizards of the Coast would pass up on the opportunity take design, create and care for a VTT that they themselves wish to use as players. It would be in deep admiration for Chris Perkins, Mike Mearls to continue using roll20 or fantasy grounds. Just by looking at the recently revised character sheet I can see with my own eyes the level of design and detail is much higher on D&Dbeyond than that of roll20, who I praise for creating roll20, in the first place. Its found a place near my heart, however in the big picture I now see roll20 or fantasy grounds has a long way to go in order make a better programme.
That said WotC or certain developers might "tuck their tail in their legs" and bail or continue to postpone because of the competition and knowing their fan base can be quite picky and choosy, quite difficult generally. But they at least have two other companies to review from and learn from their mistakes. Plus, if anything it would be a call to see if the fans want or need a new VTT.
And all this makes little difference, in that Hasbro will probably buy WotC time and wait for few years till the next rendition of D&D is announced. Personally, I'd like WotC and Hasbro and their developers to conceptualise a VTT sooner rather than waiting for a unknown release date for a unknown set or rules, as much as I love geometry. Business patterns can be very dull and not very adventurous, I think a lot of players agree.
Hopefully an API of some sort happens, and then TaleSpire might look into integration.
(See signature for TaleSpire info) :)
I hope Tale Spire is able to use a D&D Beyond API someday. At the very least it would be nice if there was a Twitch overlay screen that could be used with any VTT to provide some D&D Beyond integration.
The main reason I want a Tabletop via DND beyond is the fact that their are 3 main places selling licensed products and none of them link up. I love beyond but as a DM it kinda stinks I feel like I should buy Adventures on 1 of the popular tabletops Roll20 of Fantasy Grounds (I only play virtual as I don't live in US and just play with friends back home) and all the player resources on Beyond to help make quick chars...if they are all linked products we should at least have a way to export our purchases to one of those.

The thing is that they are not linked products (technically the correct term would be services, as I guess you are talking about DDB, Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds), they are 3 companies offering similar content but very much separate one from the other, and they all work under license agreement with WotC but are not owned by WotC in any way.
There have been talks of a DDB VTT lately from the staff, but it is still something that is quite away in the future.

So, I'm just now looking in to VTTs for the first time, as it looks like I'll be DMing a remote game shortly. I've been digging around forums, comparing notes on Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds. This post was the first I'd heard of TaleSpire and... Holy crap. You folks are doing something amazing, there.
Have you folks had any communication with the DnDbeyond team? I'm sure it's wishful thinking, but if I were them I'd be snagging you guys for a partnership ASAP. The incredibly sleek look of your VTT would partner so perfectly with the style and quality standard of DDB, not to mention the twitch integration... I just. Wow. I want this to be a thing so badly, now.
I'd *love* to see a Virtual Tabletop added. I've been trying to convince a group of friends to use DnDB for character sheets over R20 (but still use R20 for maps and dice rolling) for months now and they aren't budging XD, adding a VT would definitely expand their userbase
So... if you have a Pro Account with Roll20 there is a Beyond script that will take DnDBeyond characters and import them into Roll20. Works decently well.
Another trick to try. Anyone that doesn't have their DBB character sheet updated (both during and after session). Just gains a plain -5 to all rolls and doesn't crit on 20s. Guaranteed within one session, everyone will be in DnDBeyond.com :P . Only works if you're the DM :P

The DDB Discord bot is about as close as you can get to a VTT without it being a VTT.

I didn't know about the importer though, is it only with Pro Accounts?
Hi,
Yes only with Pro Account. However, you do NOT have to be DM. These are the steps needed.
1) If you are a player with a Pro Account.
2) You can create your own campaign temporarily.
3) Run the script and import the character.
4) Check the character and make sure it functions 100% the way you want (there is some minor tweaking you need to do).
4) Then that character can be exported as a Roll20 character onto your desktop.
5) Log into the game you play in with your DM and group. And import overtop of your existing one.
6) Enjoy.
Alternatively, if you ask someone with a Pro Account they may help you out (if you play in multiple games and someone has a Pro Account).

better yet, build an API and let VTT's explode.. it's availability might cause a little explosion of it's own of available VTT's
