Just wanted to make abundantly clear that if these OGL changes go through I will cancel my subscription and move on to other platforms and services.
The open nature of DnD is what makes it successful. It is not an obstacle that keeps it from being more profitable, it is what makes this community exist.
My d&dBeyond subscription is paid until 11/23. I will make sure to NOT renew if OGL is updated and it screws people. I have played and purchased D&D since the 1980s.
Yup, it would hurt all creators. Without the OGL that has existed for decades, things like the Pathfinder RPG published by Paizo, Kobold Press, D&D MMOs like D&D Online, and Neverwinter, Critical Role, or books like Draonomicon, The Book of Fiends, Infinite Planes, Monster Manual Expanded 1, 2, 3, or say DMSGuild, Nordic Games, Ultimate Bestiary, and so much more, would never have happened. This will destroy a lot of creators and technical talent... .
Cancel your subscriptions now. WotC is using DDB subscription cancellation as a metric to measure community backlash. You will still keep the benefits until the renewal date.
Someone read about the OGL and asked me, ""Should I buy D&D for the family?" I said, "No. Not right now. In the near future, anything you create, D&D owns without compensation. They have the forever right, that you cannot revoke, to use your work, characters, story, adventures, plot twists, original ideas, your imagination without credit or compensation. It's like buying a typewriter and anything you type, the manufacture of that typewriter, owns anything you've typed. There are other RPG's to consider."
Remember! The leaked OGL 1.1 was not a draft, as Wizards claims. Many companies including Kickstarter received the 1.1 with a contract to sign and it was intended to go into production and usage sometime around January 9th.
Remember! Wizards of the Coast leads and higher ups use language that refers to its customers as 'the obstacle to their money'. Not the source, the obstacle.
Remember! OGL 1.0 was written with the intent and the language to be an irrevocable, indisputable document. Wizards is still seeking to revoke this document to fatten their pockets, breaking that Document's terms in the process. They're violating 1.0 with 1.1 and 2.0.
Remember! No matter what they say, or what they do, Wizards does not care about you. They are doubling down in an attempt to trick you into signing into 2.0. The 2.0 document states that only with permission can they monetize and use your content. This same document also says that you give permission by using the OGL 2.0 itself, and that the usage is irrevocable. They are turning irrevocable against us as gaslighting and shameful displays of greed.
Remember! WotC does NOT own the rules to D&D. The rules to a game cannot be owned or stuck behind a usage/licensing wall. Do not let Wizards next change falsely limit who can play a game.

You can actually cancel now and fill out the feedback form explaining why. You'll still have time to figure out alternatives for your group while your paid time runs out.
WoC, quit being greedy if you want this IP to live. Anything short of doing exactly what Paizo did and I'll never spend another dollar on your products. (To anyone who didn't know Paizo made a new OGL that promises everything WoC should have, then gave it to a 3rd party non-profit this making it truly irrevocable. Pathfinder is about to confirm a critical strike on the big dog's backside)
Ideally we need waves of cancelations to continually push back unacceptable iterations. If everyone who is going to unsubscribe over this does so now, then we actually lose bargaining power overall. They can then point to less backlash for this version being a sign that they can force it through.
There is no way of knowing exactly how many cancelations they will require to get over each "hurdle" of iterations, but we should attempt to conserve some number of cancelations for later iterations
Personally, I have not unsubscribed yet because of several friends and family members using the content on my account for current campaigns through the masters subscription. I do not want to take that away from my loved ones, but if significant improvements aren't made by wotc/hasbro I will.
1.2 is a better deal, but it's not a good deal -- especially with 1.0a being revoked (or attempted to be revoked). The VTT policy inparticular is blatant anticompetitive corporate drivel.
As a long time, loyal user I find this very upsetting. I’m am downgrading my account. I’ve been here since almost the very beginning so I’m really sad to see things fall apart this badly honestly. I’m contemplating stepping away from all things Wizards as many of you all have as a consequence. I find this all very heartbreaking.
I've cancelled my subscription and I'm looking for somewhere else to play with my friends. Unfortunate thing is one of my players is quadriplegic and lives in a different country, and for all the ire, D&DBeyond is one of the most accessible options he has for playing right now. Biggest hurdle right now is getting them access to everything I have short of them writing it all down themselves. Which isn't so bad for most of them, but for the one who can't, it's really crummy.

Please dont mess this up.
Already did - and will not pay to see the movie at the theaters - will protest with my wallet.
Forgot about the movie. Yeah I won't go see it either in protest.

Put #OpenDND in the reason for canceling.

Cancelled my subscription, will not buy anything WOTC related in the future.

Shame that had to be my first post eh?
Yes I’ve already decided to do this.

If you unsubscribe you still get all the features until your next renewel. So I canceled now but the perks will be in place until November.
I won't resibscribe or purchase anything unless they completely reverse course on this anticompetitive behavior that punishes their customer base.
How do I downgrade?

You should have already canceled it along with the rest of us to signal to WoTC that we won't support them making these kinds of decisions.
