at what point do we let this thread die? It's clear we're all shouting into the void....they are not going to revert this change, sadly.
No... I think it's worth it to keep shouting. It might not do anything immediately, but a combination of people not buying products + explaining exactly why they aren't buying products will hopefully get through to them eventually. Hope springs eternal.

Agreed, but what will work even better is for everyone who cares about this to cancel their subscriptions. Money talks, as they say.

Opportunity for change comes with quarterly profit reports to investors... or something like that.
We keep the thread alive, new people are encountering this every day. It will snowball when everyone picks up the new PHB but then realises they want a different subclass. Until then, cancel your subscription and shop around for a different digital platform, and make that known here.

DId you know? The DDB marketplace has REMOVED the option for purchasing one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters "a la carte". Now you ALWAYS have to buy the ENTIRE book instead.

I'll add that the forum pushes threads with the most recent comments to the top, so I'm hopeful that the continued feedback on this thread will keep it at the top of everyone's attention!

Agree. IT's important to keep this going. When do quarterly results come out? Would be interesting to see what effect this has, or not.

it would be nice to keep it at the top where it's simple to find, but you run the risk of 'derailing' the topic with non-feedback discussion. might be easier to get a signature that says something like "unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters? provide feedback." and then just continue posting elsewhere. you'll know if anything changes.

Huh... the idea of getting a signature that links to this thread is a really good idea.

Unhappy that the market got rid of individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
Exactly. It's nice to have but not essential. It wouldn't take very much work to download a character sheet as a PDF and then alter it to have everything I wanted. I'd estimate about 5 minutes work,if that. Plus there are other character creation tools out there.
A la carte was how I did most of my purchasing on DnDBeyond in the past, and is the reason I eventually purchased some full books. It also made it possible for me to purchase an ancestry or class option for one of my players as a gift and send it to them without them needed to buy a whole book either just to use one feature. Not to mention the problem of already owning a physical copy and not wanting to pay full price again for digital content you mostly won't touch. For the prices of books in the Marketplace, especially when it comes to the new inclusion of third party content (which I do love) I find myself more likely to purchase elsewhere where I am guaranteed a PDF and physical copy for the same price. A la carte provided so many solutions and was a lovely option for me, it's just so disappointing now because I don't see myself or any of my friends making marketplace purchases without it.
Just reminding everyone I still want the a la carte back
You and me both, buddy.
Seriously, I think literally everyone who uses the site is in agreement about that... it's just a matter of getting through to whoever actually runs the place. Hopefully a massive drop off in sales will send the message loud and clear.

I have not purchased a single item from DnD Beyond since discovering this, and most likely will not be ever again. There are plenty of books that I will NEVER be running the adventures from, but it's convenient to pay a bit for all the spells, magic items, and races. That's it, that's the ONLY reason I invested in the site to begin with. Goodbye Wizards, and good riddance.
Really sad to see it still ticking over with little WotC response. I cancelled my subscription a month ago and don't intend on coming back once it expires at the end of my current game and sub. DDB is great and very handy to use, especially for new players, but it isn't required for local play and especially not for online play. I think maybe Hasbro forgot that it's a 'nice to have' and not 'an essential'.
Their business model is clearly having all GM's and all players subscribe and pay for each whole book, but that is just not going to work for them.

DM subscriber since I joined this website. Ended my subscription June 2024 due to the removal of individual purchases. Was the only reason I ever bothered with this website. I use it for character building for my players and occasional referencing. I don't want digital books that can be removed whenever the company sees fit.
January 2025: seems it was a correct move. They're removing 2014 content that we paid for in lieu of their new version of the game. You only rent content on here, never own.
What about people like me that bought 90% of a book's features except for a single race, and now you want that race from the book after all...
$30 for a single race? You've got to be joking right?
What do I do? What can I do?
Either I can never experience said race on DnDBeyond or I pay $30 on it despite having paid 90% of that $30 before?
At the very least... the very least... they should have previous á la carte purchases their prices be subtracted from the book's full price... this is outrageous!

They've said you can contact support to get the credit for the stuff you already bought. (Support are generally not quick on this.)
(Or you could homebrew it.)

Unless we can sustain this protest and keep voting with closed wallets, they will not take us seriously.

Without la carte, I won't be able to get the parts of the 2024 books I do want without getting the parts I do not want.
Please bring back la carte.
