I just had a conversation about this with 1 of my players. The a la carte feature was one of the last selling points for this site. Came to find out this feature was removed with no prior notice. I agree with the outrage and sentiment of this and other similar threads.
I agree so much! If I just want the subclasses, I'm not gonna buy the whole book. I just won't buy anything. I wanted to buy the Tasha's feats today, but decided that I'm just not going to buy a book from them ever again until they bring back this feature.
I have cancelled a years long subscription because they took this away. I have the books already and I just wanted to purchase individual piecemeal subclass for my party, now that that is gone we have moved to a different full VTT.
A big problem is that there are people who want to play a certain race or class but don't have the money to buy a whole book and use the old system to gradually buy the things they need. I'm one of those people and I hate everything about this new system. Especially it won't even let me select the digital option. it automatically always goes to Buy the Physical Book.
I don't see a Q&A thread to ask on, so I have a few questions beyond the stupidity of removing ala carte purchases. Sorry if I missed the proper thread.
- It seems they removed all my existing information. Address and billing information is completely gone.
- it seems they removed the ability to use paypal as a payment method.
- I can't check out. there's literally no button.
Now, I am assuming that I need to re-insert my information again and then maybe the check out option will appear (I can see the button when there's nothing in my cart). I'm not interested in using my credit card directly though, that's precisely why I use paypal. Am I missing things or did they simply remove options?

Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

I don't know if this has been addressed or not, but there doesn't even seem to be a place where you can view your wishlist. You can mark the individual items, but then you have to go search for them again. Unless I'm missing it, I don't see a way to view just the items on your wishlist.

Please, for the love of the gods, tell me how am I to balance DnD with the family and my son's travel hockey? HALP!
In the upper right region of the marketplace layout you should see something like "Hi, Larphill" -- if you click on that there is a menu option for the wishlist.
Not sure how it works on mobile though.
It's still a hassle to add stuff to the wishlist without proper filters for already owned content.
If some random people with influencer credit hadn't said that Hasbro was pushing microtransactions via a la carte, we wouldn't be in this mess.
That would imply that WotC actually listens to any of their audience.
Anyway, agreed. The removal of individual purchases is a terrible move by money-hungry execs who don't know how people work. The execs need to step back and let people who are actually in touch with the community run the site instead of sticking their idiotic fingers into every aspect of the business.
They should bring back a la carte, we shouldn't be forced to purchase the entire book just to get any content. We personally have stopped supporting them and have been protesting on their social medias like fb about it every day since it's been taken away so please feel free to add support elsewhere. More voices everywhere helps. They took away options and an additional way to gain financial support that doesn't seem like smart decisions to me. Our group didn't use majority of the content so it doesn't make sense to pay for so much we'd never use and weren't ever interested in. There's only a few things we ever used and wanted and used to support content from all the books. Currently not subscribed anymore because they took it away.
Blame culture warriors who thought DND was selling microtransactions dressed up as "A La Carte"(They had ZERO idea of the "ofFicIaL" VTT and what it's going to pull when those were made).
Their outrage articles & Twitter tireades lead to this malicious over-correction that TECHNICALLY complies with criticism while also opening the greed floodgates.
People need to stop & think before they rage, ESPECIALLY if being paid for it. Because big companies are MASTERS of malicious compliance.
I did homebrew an item for my monk to give the bonus to unarmed and natural weapons. It doesn't work with the natural weapon. Contacted them and basically got " we don't do support for homebrew items" even though its not the item, but its interaction with the specific attack. So homebrew is not even fully supported by the company and if you have issues with it they just don't care.

Tasha
They seem to have fixed that part.

All generalizations are false.

Oh found out you need a sub to use homebrew stuff too. Site should just fold but some morons will pony up bucks to get bent over by the greedy corpos
You don't. You need a sub to access the public homebrew, and you have since before WotC bought the site. (Probably you always have.)
But you can homebrew stuff as a free member, and in-campaign homebrew is always shared.

DM, player & homebrewer(Current homebrew project is an unofficial conversion of SBURB/SGRUB from Homestuck into DND 5e)
Once made Maxwell's Silver Hammer come down upon Strahd's head to make sure he was dead.
Always study & sharpen philosophical razors. They save a lot of trouble.

I for one am thankful they removed the à la carte.
I'm just starting a new campaign and it's saving me tons of money by not buying anything, homebrewing and using other sources for all my needs.
I wish I could buy what I needed for ease of use.. Buy since I can't...
I'm pretty sure they lost more money than they made on this decision.
God I need Mordenkainen, just for tabaxi but that price is insane for one race
PleaSE DNDBEYOND, LEMME JUST HAVE IT
So glad to see them listening to their subscribers. I have not bought anything from them in a year. Money lost I guess...
Party Wizard Forever!
Please bring back la carte.
Just going to point out that Tabaxi isn't even hard to add via homebrew.
You don't. You can just go to the sources menu and read it. Or make characters in the character builder.
If you bought it in the app it sometimes takes a while (on the order of a day) to become available.
