To make my homebrew spells work with 2024 classes, I'm currently updating my 700+ homebrew spells (!) to add the class and subclass tags for the "Available for classes" section...
Request. First off, I'd suggest tagging the 2014 options with "2014", to help differentiate the darn tags. For example "DRUID (2014)" instead of simply "DRUID", which is also the 2024 tag. Or "WARLOCK - THE FIEND (2014)" instead of "WARLOCK (THE FIEND)"
That would go a long way to help homebrewers like me that have tons of homebrew spells to update.
Next, when you added homebrew spells to specific Warlock or Druid subclasses for 2014, it resulted in those spells being part of the Expanded spell lists for these classes.
But now, if you choose DRUID - CIRCLE OF THE MOON with the 2024 tag, the spell will be added as an ALWAYS PREPARED spell instead of being part of an expanded spell list.
Strangely enough, however, if you currently choose WARLOCK - THE FIEND with the 2024 tag, or a BARD - SUBCLASS tag, the spell is till added to the expanded spell list, and not as an ALWAYS PREPARED option.
So there's that discrepancy...
So the spell building tool isn't applying the subclasses in the same way for all classes, right now.
I humbly suggest (implore) that ANY subclass tag in the spell builder be applied to an expanded spell list, rathing than tagging the spell as an ALWAYS PREPARED spell. This should be the same whether you choose a Cleric subclass, Druid subclass, Warlock subclass, and so on. Otherwise, adding spells as ALWAYS PREPARED can give a LOT of additional, always prepared spells to a given spellcaster.
I see that for the bard, druid, and the warlock at least, you are using some other way to add the ALWAYS PREPARED spells of some classes (rather than adding the subclass tags to the spells themselves), because subclasses that get "always prepared spells" , these spells are not showing up as "Known Spells" when you open the "manage spells" section of the character sheet.
I personnally enjoy adding spells to specific subclasses, but always had an issue with homebrew spells that were added as "Always Prepared" spells for the CLERIC when tagging the sublasses in the "Available for CLasses" section rather than simply being added to an Expanded Spell list. If I wanted a specific Cleric subclass to get certain spells, I had to create a homebrew copy of that subclass, enter the builder, go to a class feature, and add spell with the Expanded Spell List option there.
(Edit: And that still seems to be the case for the 2024 Cleric subclass tags...)
Would be preferable if in the spell creator itself, there was a checkbox to set a spell as Always Prepared, and if you tag the subclass, it simply adds it as an extra spell to choose from from that class's spell list. Or an option to either add the spell to the spell list as part of an expanded spell list, or add it as always prepared (perhaps two different subclass option tags?)
Thorough and understandable desire. Hope they finish ironing out the kinks. Many homebrewers are looking at 100's of changes and re-edits. Keeping the homebrewer in mind would be great.

Hope some of that makes sense!
