My group manages their characters in the web interface, and then prints their sheets to play. We really prefer playing without screens to stay focused on the game and each other. After the game we notate relevant changes in the web interface. Our group is also comprised of busy, new players that forget a lot of their cheatecter’s abilities, so the more the sheet helps with that, the better. Previous to the new DNDB PDFs, we used the More Purple, More Better PDFs, which are fantastic but a pain to manage.
I love the improvements to PDF export, but have some suggestions to make it even better:
1) I noticed Backgrounds (Wanderer, Charaltan, etc) don’t get added to the PDF export. Since many have features/abilities included, it would be great for those to be included to the Features/Abilities box.
2) Woule be great to see weapon ranges added to the PDF export in the notes section for each weapon.
3) Would be great if spellcasters saw all attack Cantrips added to the Weapon Attacks & Cantrips section.
4) 1st level spells with higher level spell ability aren’t indicated on the Spell sheet like they are in the web interface. Would be handy to see the spell duplicated for each applicable spell level with the relevant higher level bonuses (deltas).
5) Spells you’ve marked as prepared in the web interface don’t get marked as prepared on the spells list of the PDF export. Cleric, for example.
6) Ability Save DC on first page isn’t populated.
7) Under Skills, proficiency in tools like Thieves Tools doesn’t appear. Would be handy if it did to remind player of their modifier when using the tool. This one isn’t super important since the proficiency is listed elsewhere.
8) Text can be truncated in the Ability DC Save box. Barbarian’s Danger Sense ability, for example.
A couple of cosmetic items to add to the above list...
1) In the Equipment section the coin denominations (cp, sp, ep, gp and pp) show up on the pdf when you look at it in reader but, when you print it, the text does not appear. I can get around this by highlighting the text then printing but you could also enter the denominations as text boxes like you did with the stat association for skills (which had the same problem in the previous version of pdf export.
2) The Character Appearance box on pg. 2 has been formatted as a text box. The previous version formatted that area as a picture area and we could pick an image file to insert. While ideally we should be able to export the picture we have on the webpage, being able to insert a picture is good. Please bring this back.
3) I have noticed that my background story has been truncated. Is there a way for an extra page to be added with more space to accommodate long-winded back stories? I would be fine with it being put in the Additional Notes section but you would need to be conscious of when that space is full and add another page to accommodate.
4) Lifestyle is not exported to the pdf. It would be nice to have it in the Features and Traits section.
5) Enemies is not exported to the pdf. I would ask that the Allies and Organizations section be modified to include Enemies.
I agree with BornUnderPunches that playing D&D with paper in front of you instead of a screen brings more authenticity to the purity of the imagination experience. I can see the day though when technology will be able to take D&D to the next level (i.e. Augmented Reality / VR technology) and I look forward to when that happens.
I know this is an old post at this point, but I still find that it's relavent as I'm still seeing many or all of the same issues. I found this page while looking for a way to add an extra note page since everything in the "Allies & Organizations" past a certain point just gets cut off. I'd much rather have an extra page of "extra notes" for everything that doesn't fit in the preformated boxes, not just for this box, but for other ones as well as some are rather small. This would be much more usefull.

Have fun.
Bump! Just hoping this gets seen by the DNDB team.
