I am aware I can avoid telling them the name of the item... but as a DM who is presenting a cursed magic item that appears as a non-cursed item, it spoils the trick and the fun of seeing the curse in action.
Not out to have fun at the expense of the players, but a cursed item is only entertaining when it is a surprise. But I tried adding it to one of my characters and when I saw the description it instantly explains it is a curse...
Your best bet is honestly to create a homebrew copy of the item, rename it to something that doesn't betray its nature, and add that copy. Only add the cursed original version once it's revealed.
I'm going to just add to this, the reason that this isn't already automated.
D&D Beyond exists as a repository for printed content. If the books held versions of the items that didn't have the curse, then they'd be here. As it stands, however, only the version posted in the books is listed on Beyond.

As the title states.
