Hi, there's probably already a thread on this but I think with the issuance of the new 2024 source books and the changes to the rules it brings and the need to disambiguate these rules from the legacy sourcebooks it might be worth a revisit.
The case in point was finding where in the new source books it refers to drinking healing potions being a bonus action. In the 2024 edition of D&D drinking a healing potion is now a bonus action, but this is not a general rule for all potions. To quote the DMG on the Potion of Healing Entry - "This potion is a magic item. As a Bonus Action, you can drink it or administer it to another creature within 5 feet of yourself."
Finding this without knowing it was a specific rule, without knowing the general rule and with the way the current DDB search works and its limitation on filtering which source book or section - (Is it in the PHB under Actions? Is it a Magic action? Is it a Utilize action?) was harder than it should have been - particularly if I was also wanting to restrict the search to just the new 2024 source rulebooks.
Please consider providing the option to limit or filter the search to specific source books - either as a search filter or even potentially as a (within source book search) at the top of the source book index?
My players and I love the new 2024 rules and would appreciate the capability to find what we need easier, thanks.
You're absolutely right that the search could be a lot better, but I do feel I should point out that the thing about drinking a potion being a bonus action rather than an action is a general rule for all potions. It's described in chapter 7 of the Dungeon Master's Guide, in the "Magic Item Categories" section: https://www.dndbeyond.com/sources/dnd/dmg-2024/treasure#Potions
