Has anyone ever thought about the idea of treating a Wizard's spellbooks as containers, being able to keep track of which spell are recorded in which books?
Can't you just create a custom item for the character called spell book then in the description list the spells included in (probably the spell level as well).
Creating a Container does seem possible but generally would seem to be more valuable for an item that the items in it change regularly.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the value of that approach.
My idea is for Wizards that have multiple spell books, if one was lost or they only chose to take their 'travel' book with them while adventuring, the app would automatically keep track of what spells were available to them based on which ones were equipped.
Strongly agreed, since as a DM you can give prebuilt named spellbooks to players as a reward for looting a mage mansion or character/monster (ie. Mage, Archmage...)

+1, big time wizard fan. In all editions I have played it (except 4th edition which I refuse to touch with a 10-foot cattle prod), I have always be a collector, and where possible, creator of spells.
I like the idea of track spells by spell books. One of my oldest, and still played, wizard characters has a spellbook for each level of spells.
