I have players making characters using the 2014 ruleset, as those are the books I have in DnDBeyond. However, whenever I reference their printed character sheets, the 2024 players handbook is referenced. Why? this makes it very challenging to determine if they have the correct class abilities, etc.
Personally I think It would be great if the first thing you chose was the ruleset, and the character gen removed everything that was unnecessary.
There are a few things that appear, such as the weapon mastery properties (but not the abilities), but if the characters are made with 2014 classes, you mostly see 2014 material.
I dont use the pdf versions much, but looking quickly now one issue is that it dumps both the 2014 and 2024 spell lists onto the sheet (at least for druids that learn all their spells), leaving it a confusing mess. Especially as the two lists are slightly different, so some spells are only in one or the other while the rest are doubled up.

Does it still do that if you turn off the one you don't want on the Sources tab?

I've just checked and 2024 is turned off in sources (I assume you mean under Sources on the Home tab of the builder).
The odd thing is, it does export correctly on PC, with only the 2014 versions of spells, but when I export on mobile (using the Chrome browser) it put both versions in. Even weirder, I tried a different druid character on the PC, and that exported both sets of spells. So it all seems a bit random.
I believe the PDF character sheets are cached and are not necessarily regenerated immediately when you make changes like that; it may take a bit of time before changes are reflected in the PDF. Try it again now and see if it’s any different.

What do you mean by "referencing the 2024 PHB"?
