I think you guys should consider changing the language or adding an addendum to the new Replicate Magic Item feature. Because there are no longer '"Infusions" (and therefore no requisite item for them to infused into,) and Artificer's learn four plans of "their choice" and can create these plans from thin air. +1 Weapon becomes very problematic as it includes the antimatter rifle as a listed option.
Before, you could use the tech level of your world as an intrinsic limitation, but in the 5.5 update RAW there is no such limitation.
I guess what I'm saying is, it's been less than a week and I've already had to talk two players off a ledge...
You're placing your feedback in the wrong place at the wrong time I'm afraid. This forum is for feedback on D&D Beyond, not the D&D rules. Feedback for the artificer would/should have been given during the Unearthed Arcana cycles when the (I think) two feedback surveys were on going. Unfortunately you've missed that boat.
As for the substance of your feedback, it seems the design is intentional as you're no longer infusing a mundane item with magic, but creating a new magical invention from plans of your own design. If players wish to create items that do not fit within your campaign, that's a discussion between player and DM. The "use the tech level of your world as an intrinsic limitation" is still there, it just requires people use their words...
