I think the character builder should allow Artificer players to select the Variant Capstone features from the Optional Feature Manager menu. That's it, that's pretty much it. Make it have a couple checks to see what subclass the artificer is, then allow players to replace Soul of Artifice with their respective Variant Capstone in the character builder.
Is there any word on them updating the site/app so that it can do this? I have been wanting to have all my stuff in one place, but I am fine with currently having to keep the source material open in another tab during our sessions.
It really seems like it would be possible, considering the Revised 5e Ranger rules (particularly Revised 5e Beastmaster) included in Tasha's Cauldron does almost exactly what I'm suggested be implemented. Optional Class features that can replace existing ones that require you to be a specific subclass. The only caveat is these ones replace a base class feature rather than a subclass feature, and Revised Beastmaster is the only official instance of replacement features requiring a subclass; which only replaces a subclass feature, and that seems to be the only way you can utilize replacement features in Homebrew Subclasses. I still think it can be done, it'd just take tweaking the already existing implementation.

That isn't coded the same as capstones.

It's a technical issue, the system isn't built for it presently.

If possible, it would be after the backend rebuild later this year.
