When preparing a session in the D&D Beyond VTT, I preload all the maps I expect to use. However, during prep I often realize I forgot a map or need to insert one between existing maps.
Currently, the only way to correct the order is to:
delete maps and rebuild them (losing placed tokens), or
constantly jump up and down the list to find the correct next map during play.
Because tokens, monsters, and player positions are already set up, deleting and re-adding maps is not practical. As a result, DMs end up “scroll-navigating” the session instead of smoothly progressing through encounters.
Suggested Improvement
Allow maps in the Prepared Maps list to be reordered via click-drag-and-drop.
Benefits
Keeps placed tokens intact
Reduces session friction
Supports improvisation during prep
Matches expectations from most VTT tools and file managers
Improves live session pacing (no more jumping around the list)
This small UX improvement would make session preparation significantly smoother for DMs who stage multiple encounters ahead of time.
Thank you in advance for considering this — from a DM who isn’t a UX expert, but hopes this might be a relatively simple quality-of-life improvement.
I've thought that many times myself, and yes, I would really like that too. Having to constantly delete maps to keep things organized can't be a good solution in the end. At the same time, I would also like the option to sort the maps into folders within Maps, that would make it even easier to use.

This would be so helpful, as would the ability to re-order. Both great suggestions.

Player/DM - recently got back into D&D
Anyone else think it would be helpful to click-drag-drop prepared maps into chronological order of play for a session?

Oh and to be clear, I'm referring to the prepared maps... NOT the stored maps.

I agree. I would also like to upload my own stickers so I don't have to upload a full map every time I just want a custom item on my map.

Folders would be fantastic! Right now I have a naming convention to keep my adventure maps together.
Another great feature would be a search option for my maps.
