@martintheactor I think you maybe misconstrued the point of this thread—it's not to complain about not liking the new menu (there's already a thread for that) but to provide actionable feedback on what can be improved.
The way your direct quote of my message starts with "Sorry but...." implies that I am somehow wrong in my preferences as it regards to the changes, which is a bizarre take.

No, what it means is 'sorry to disagree with you, but here's my opinion'. It doesn't invalidate your opinion, it is offering a counter opinion. That is all. Frankly, to me it seem bizarre that such a common expression wasn't understood. Though this is a platform with a global audience so differences in comprehension should be accounted for I suppose.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for changing the drop down menu from hover to click. As someone with a movement disorder this will make my life so much easier.
It would be nice if the Encounters link was to My Encounters, rather than the encounter builder, perhaps it's just me, but I use the former far more often than the latter.
I think I'm blind. Where is the search for homebrew button?
What "search for homebrew" button? I don't recall any such button previously. There was My Homebrew Collection and My Homebrew Creations, both now accessible from Play D&D > Homebrew > top right. There were also the individual create X buttons and browse X buttons which are accessible from the same page

Click the View Homebrew X on that page. There's one button for each type of homebrew
I do think this iteration of the updated menu is better than last time. I do have some feedback to add to what people have already said:
1. Clicking on "Encounters" brings you to the encounter builder, not to your current list of encounters. I would much prefer that it direct to your list of encounters, where you can then decide to create a new one. The mobile version of the website is also currently incapable of navigating to your list of created encounters in its current configuration.
2. The favorites listed in the library dropdown seem to be ordered by how old they are. So while I have both Xanathar's and the new PHB favorited, Xanathar's (and most of the older books) are displayed first, and I can't even see the newer books without navigating to my full list of favorites. I'd like a different way of prioritizing which books are listed first in this dropdown (I know you can change the sort order on the favorites page itself, but that doesn't seem to apply to the dropdown).
I do appreciate the fact that the menu doesn't swoop down and cover 40% of my screen whenever I accidentally move my mouse within earshot of it. Though I would like there to be better use of space and a bit more visual styling to it, as it is a bit too much empty dark grey for my liking.
For example, under the Rules section, there is absolutely no reason that both the Compendium and Resources sections can't be two columns each with a bit of art included for each subject. A small horizontal banner image above/below each title would go a long way to remove some of the blandness of the grey blob that the menu has become.
I'd also prefer if the designers could be more consistent with their use of font sizing across all the menu items, I really don't like that each section appears to have its own thing going on. Especially on the Community tab where the items under Support and Connect are totally different.
Another thing that I think needs to be made way more visual and eye grabbing is the Create a Character link in the Play menu. With the size of the current three images & headings for characters, campaigns and maps, there is more than enough room in that menu area to shift everything to the right and slot a fourth visual block for directing people to create characters. I almost didn't see the text at the bottom of that menu area to create a character.
If you are hell-bent on keeping the link to create a character as it is, please remove the arrow to the right of it... what is it even pointing at? The endless dark void that your many unused characters will end up in?
Changing from hover to click really was the best change here. That interfered with me far too often.
Also, one thing being presented as a bug that I'd like to see made into a feature, personally (maybe we can get a setting to activate this?) is: I don't want anything in my top 6 favorites to show up under Recent. I already put it in the menu as always-accessible, I don't need to see the same book twice in the same bar.
If we could get the option to make the layout exclude those six at all times, that would be amazing.
On mobile i like the changes. The Menu Bar feels a little less clunky. On desktop it feels different and probably takes some time to get used to the new design and layout.
My suggestions would be:
Swap Favorite and Recently Opened. And maybe an option to not show Recently Opened at all. Perhaps that could leave more room to show more Favorited books.
Under Community, there is no icon/link for the BlueSky account.
The "Hi' message seems a bit silly.
Give Homebrew a bigger icon.
On some parts of the website, when you scroll down the menu bar also moves up and out of sight. Why not let it stay on the screen so you don't have to scroll all the way back up again when you want to access another part of the website? (on mobile it seems to stick at least, so that's nice).

I'd like to take this idea a step further: Let the menu bar disappear when you scroll down, but any amount of scrolling up makes it reappear. Firefox Mobile does this and it's really useful, both keeping the bar out of the way and keeping it in reach at all times.
There's literally 2 (TWO) SUBSCRIBE buttons on the same row, linking to the same subscription page. TWO ! I'm sorry but that's just so stupid 😂.
Whoever made that has issues. Also, for whatever reason the Character menu panels are crowded onto each others : Screenshot of my Character menu panels I'm on PC, navigation page zoom on 90%. Didn't change anything tempering with that. Also the website is much slower.
I don't know what they tried to fix, but I do know they made a lot of things much worse.
First time posting here but i came here because the new design makes me want to rage, pun intended.
A: its visually cluttered making it seem messy. visually making it harder to see the thing you are looking for.
B: The mono chromatic nature of so many elements being that dark grey again makes thing visually unorganised and for people with poorer quality sight this issue just compounds. Also having everything being in similar tones makes it harder to differenciate between what is being shown. for example the explore more and the partnered creators sections on the main page bleed together, if you are just scrolling past you dont really have anything to tell you that you are at a different section of information.
C: The fact that the menus dont automatically drop like they used to puts things behind an unnecessary click, making the redesign less efficient.
D: Back at the whole making the readability of the website trash again angle the fact that options like Classes, Spells, Monsters ect not having a accompanying image, makes visually finding those elements harder.
E: Under Rules, id argue that the majority of people looking there are after Classes, Spells ect not the how to play resources. The Classes, Spells ect should be the column directly under the Rules drop down and the how to play should be on the left, simple efficiency.
F: The Play DND tab just seems to be the miscellaneous draw, this needs to be worded better because in what world would i assume my My Dice settings are under that heading, same with Homebrew content. Call it My DnD - my character - my dice - my homebrew, easy.
G: BRING BACK THE LITTLE FLASHING WIZARD! i miss him
Changing from hover to click really was the best change here. That interfered with me far too often.
This I think is something divided by device type and use scenario. I use a good mouse with a scroll wheel and so have never had hover menus interfere. For that reason I personally prefer a hover menu.
However, if using a laptop with a trackpad, yeah, hover menus can certainly be problematic. On mobile devices they can make a site almost unusable.
Looking beyond oneself I think it's the one thing that while I don't personally like, I think really does come down to how you use your device. At least that's my read on the matter.

A: Visual clutter? There is less text and information on the top bar, and even less on the dropdowns. The library page used to list like 50+ items, not it lists 6? The rules section used to have giant visuals for 3 of the 8 options, making finding anything but those three a pain.
B: How is monochrome "visually unorganized." I'll agree I think a straight Black/white split would have been easier to read, but I do not think that it would look great. Colors would be worse. The front page either has a massive background behind a section or a solid color, making every section very different and I can easily tell when I have scrolled to a new section. Plus the title in the center helps.
C: The number of times I lost a menu, or ended up going to an unintended page because of those hover menus is countless. Sure now I need to reprogram the click, but that is MORE efficient than constant accidents.
D:Again see that one 3 of the 8 things in the old section had images, making the other sections, the sections I as a DM needed more often harderto find. I won't say it is easier in the new set up, but now I am not eyes drawn to the image and then going "wait where are the other sections"
E: I'd argue that new people are absolutely looking for how to play resources under the "rules" tab. Plus the needed resources are listed on the left, making them priority in peoples eytte search. When I look at a menu open up, my eyes go to the left, not to the center.
F: That tab is literally all the things you would use to, achem, play D&D on this website....
G: Can't agree more!

Hopefully this is useful info—navigating to a book from the favorites doesn't add it to recent, whereas doing so from the library proper does.

Much like Wagnarokkr, I want to see Party Wizard's return! I miss him dearly.
If not returned to the header of the page, at the very least I'd love to see the easter egg's functionality restored-- maybe in the bottom banner?
