I was recently alerted to the fact that weapons such as the antimatter, laser and other advanced guns are included as part of the D&D Beyond Basic Rules. This has led to some confusion with players of mine who think that these are "normal" weapons that anyone can take when making a character. I'm not sure if this was intended because those items are not mentioned anywhere within the text of the Basic Rules or the System Reference Document, but they are listed as being a part of them when you search for the items on the website. So this seems a little odd to me as the items in question only appear in the Dungeon Master's Guide.
Not sure if this is a mistake or something, but I figured I would mention it since I'm probably not the only person who's seen confusion over this.
The Basic Rules is an amalgam of elements of the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual. Not everything in the Basic Rules is intended to be player facing. This includes those firearm options.
