So was going to run some old school campaigns and decided on running the lost city, and see that they made an upgraded version for 5e in Quest from the infinite staircase, which also had Pharaoh another old school campaign I wanted to run so I bought it.. Turns out all the maps are in 10' grid. Everything in 5e is based on 5' so why the hell did you guys make in in 10"?
Any chance of fixing this or adding in a 5' grid overlay in maps?
I'd imagine it's because B4 The Lost City maps were in 10' squares.
The lost City was also AD&D rules and they managed to update it to 5E but didnt update the maps to go along with it? yeah thats not a good excuse for anything

These throwback modules always aim to stay as close to the original as possible while making them playable in 5e. Updating the rules is required to meet that criteria, changing the map grid is not.
Also they're not the only maps that have 10' grids—a lot of maps that cover large areas will use that scale

There was no player maps in the original, there was no vtt back then so "stay as close as possible to the original" is just excusing away a stupid decision.

The player maps are just the maps in the adventure with some details removed. These maps are too big for a 10" grid to make sense as they're printed in books which limits the overall size of the image. I'm not sure why you're bringing VTTs into it? DDB Maps scales the maps automatically so tokens are the right size.
Using a 10" grid is common when the area being mapped is very large and thus a 5" grid would be too small to be usable. This isn't a D&D Beyond issue, so I'm not even sure why you're posting here? You should give your feedback to WotC for when they're commissioning cartographers for future books.

You sticking up for this dumb decisions is not really doing you any favors here.
They have the digital maps built into their "maps vtt" so the player maps that they designed and put into that vtt does not in fact have to be a 10' square and your excuse making doesn't make any sense.
5e based on 5' square, Maps VTT based on 5' square, digital player map designed for Maps VTT being a 10' square is stupid.. full stop.
The maps you're complaining about were not designed for the VTT

Nowhere in that does it say the maps were designed for Maps VTT

Actually they list it as a drop in map made for the maps vtt in the beyond unlocks for the product.
Honestly whats your end game here? Making a 10' grid player map when everything is 5' is stupid. Everyone knows its stupid. What can you possibly gain for foolishly arguing that its not?
If the map covers 1000s of feet - idk I do not have this adventure - then as a DM I would rather 10ft squares as the party is not covering distance in 6 second intervals often. If down to 500 feet I like larger squares. Anything smaller and looking at the whole map gets too crowded.

This isn't even the only module that utilizes 10 ft squares. Storm Kings Thunder, Bigby, and Fizban have maps with grids larger than 5.
