To my knowledge, book + content restriction is coming to DDB already for those sharing their compendium with others. You hinted at plans to remove books/adventures from a campaign group so that said players wouldn't be able to read ahead when playing through a book adventure. Can this feature be expanded into AL's PGB + 1 rule?
To make myself clear, each player in an AL DnD game is allowed to utilise the base-game plus 1 other rule book of their choice when making their character (currently that list includes Elemental Evil, Sword Coast, Volo, Xanathar and Mordenkainen). At the start of CC (Character Creation) an option was offered to create an AL-complaint character, it could then ask you what book you plan on creating the character from and hide all the other options from there on. Having an AL-complaint banner next to the created character would help from a DM perspective seeing these characters stay true to the AL regulation as they step from table to table. A AL-conversion tool would also be desired for transitioning all the non-AL characters already being played in AL into AL-regulated characters (presumably by copying the character, leading the player through any collisions/rule-breaking combinations and asking what they want to change on the copy to make it AL-compliant).
Ideally the book choice would be a setting modifiable during the CC process (greying out races, sub-classes, perks and so on to allow the player to change which book they want as their for the character. I'm not sure if the current code behind your website would support such a feature though without re-writing, so I wouldn't be shocked if interchangeable book restrictions mid-CC is an unfeasible request.
Also in the future with Campaign updates, I'd hope campaign DMs would be able to set their campaign as an AL campaign, limiting the players to AL-regulated characters within the games adventure level range. Even better if AL-DMs could see what book each player is using to help with expectations on the table. Finally if a DM-notes section could be added to the AL-characters (not able to be viewed by the player) so when they pass to another campaign the notes are shared with the next GM, it would allow for stronger games when it comes to understanding player expectations.
