I am not new to DM'ing Dungeons and Dragons campaigns. I've played since the mid 90's off and on. I am however new to playing the new ruleset so I figured I would pickup the new starter set. My daughter came to visit to play and everything. We've had a fun time but we have not finished the campaign. So I figured I would buy the digital starter set and we could continue the adventure with some of us at home, and her at her house. The "Starter" set in digital format, is really not starter friendly in my opinion. I tried setting it up in Maps VTT but I am completely lost. Maybe I'm naïve but I think a "starter" set would be plug and play in Maps VTT , have it load the correct maps, place the creatures where they would need, but alas I'm mistaken and now have no idea where to start or how to use this thing. Any tips, suggestions, pointers to videos on how to set this up or how to run it would be greatly appreciated. The more step by step the better, at least until I can get my feet beneath me. I feel like I've rolled a 1 on my return to DM'ing.
Assuming you mean Heroes of the Borderlands, you’ll want to use the QuickPlay version of the map to get pre-populated monsters and such. Look for maps with the red QuickPlay icon, then select QuickPlay when adding that map.
