I would like the ability to add/ use my own PNG stickers and props even if I have to upload them.
I often use video maps that come with props for secret doors and it would be great to be able to make use of them natively without having to edit the prop into my map in capcut. In addition it would be amazing if video maps had the option for the DM to enable the video audio.
The ability to snap the map of all players to the same area the DM is viewing would be great too, and (perhaps more importantly for large combats) the ability to either visually ping or snap the view to a player or NPC on their turn in initiative.
How about the ability to move maps around in your map list so you can group assocated maps together. Can be frustrating if you have to add more at a later date and they are then not all grouped together for ease of searches. This can be useful for individuals that suffer with conditions such as autism that would have specific ways they want to do things.
In Maps, I would like the ability to give a monster a generic alternate name, that would be the default name visible at the beginning of a combat with the ability to toggle to the Correct Name as players recognize/identify what they are truely fighting. The combat might start with a mob named "Glowing Ball of Light" but after the players fight a few turns the DM could toggle the name to "Will-o-wisp". This is a feature that is curently supported by other VTT's
I agree that an additional measurement tool would be useful. A tool that automatically measure how far you drag a token. Give peaple the ability to toggle it off if they don't like it.
Idk if this is the place to put this. But Since people Are putting Ideas here for Maps VTT I am going to piggy back on it. Let me know if I should do this someplace else.
Text tool added to the Draw tools function: I would like to see a way to just type out text on the map like you can on paint. This could be added to the draw tools area. My players and I use VTT maps as an interactive place even for RP situations. I have full city scale maps I add to it and the players put their tokens where they are at in the city to keep track of where the party is and how long it would take them to get to another place or people. When they first enter a city they dont have much info. As they reveal the location of shops, npc locations, homes, sketch thieves guild, they like to label it on the map. They tend to draw out the word with the pencil, which is fine for now, but I would like to see text being easy in the future. I know they have the letter stickers now but that is still some what of a pain.
Theatre of the mind: I love this new map to help with creating scenes in between maps. This can be great for rp as well and I would like to see more. This has sparked an Idea for me that I am going to create but I wanted to share it here so maybe an official one can be made and it will help with newer DMs. I am going to make a map for player and myself with the following tools are in scene and Out of scene tracker: to help define who is listening as a visual aid to player and dm. Players can move their tokens between the areas and DM's can move npc. Keep everyone in track to who is in the area and who is not. Maybe a sub area in scene for stealth players or unconscious players.
Time Tracker : This could be morning / day / evening / night. Or it could just be divided in to segments. It could be a dungeon time track an hour track etc. (there could be variations or you can make a unit and let the dm define it by adding their own text. ) Use some kind of token to move through the track to signal the players.
Weather tracker: This could just be an area for weather and maybe we just add a token or text to symbolize the current weather.
I am sure there are other ideas and tools that will be helpful that I might add to mine as I go. But I think the visual would help not only the DM but the players as well.
Scene inventory: Whether it is that dragon hoard or a traveling sales man, or a shop right for the picking. Inventory of items in a scene that can be added like a player inventory would be fantastic. I can of course add it via text. It just feels like it is right there ready for the taking in some way. The having the item be click able with book value, weight, description, and perhaps one day a give function that can send it straight to a players inventory. I could also customize the values so I know how much the shop is selling it for.
NPC/Monster Attitudes: A tracker like the conditions that highlights their attitudes towards the players. Maybe a function to be able to show it to the player. (This can already be done with rings but maybe an official tracker can help.)
I am sure I will have more in the future. But let me know what you think. Also if anyone has more ideas for the Theatre of the mind map, I would love
Edit: Grammar and spelling. Probably more in there that I am not seeing.

This is something that's already on the roadmap.
