I own all the 5e rulebooks.... and all the rulebooks on D&D Beyond. What I don't own is all the adventures. Looking at D&D Beyond, it would cost $213 for me to get the legendary bundle... and all it would add is a bunch of adventures. While that's not negligible content, it's not nearly as useful to me as the rulebooks, for a serious chunk of change. I'm unlikely to ever run *all* the adventures. I'm actually unlikely to run more than one, maybe two, since I do a lot of homebrew.
However, I will almost certainly buy every rulebook that comes out. I love Xanathar's, Volo's, and Mordenkainen's.
I'd love to see a D&D Beyond option that lets me get a Legendary Bundle just for rulebooks. Exclude settings and Adventures, since they're really more specialized.
I'm probably not the first person to think of this, but figured I'd add my voice to any others.
I agree. I'm new to DMing and just bought all of the books to DM for my group but i do think that making a bundle that is only made of the core books and the rules there after would be very appealing to me as a DM. I want the books to create my own worlds and would like to just lug around the core books from this site rather than having to buy all of the other books that i would not really have any interest in.
I also would really like this to be a thing, the current cart price of all the rule books is 239.91, something that I think is a bit much when the legendary bundle does more than double the amount of books for only roughly 1.5 times the price of the rules. I don't want the pre-written adventures and already need to spend another annual 55 on the master subscription. I already have access to books from other sources, but want to use the tools here when I inevitably host 100% of my games through MapTool and Discord (as some of my best players for RP usually cannot be left to their own devices with any semblance of accuracy).
EDIT: $269.90 with Guildmasters' Guide to Ravnica, making it less than 1.5 times the price for the whole legendary bundle
Hi I know its not an answer to your question but I suspect you want this as a price saving tool. I bought almost all my books for 25% off by using coupons. Since future books need to be bought individually even if you have the legendary bundle (they just give you 15% off if there is no coupon available). There are usually at least 2 codes a year + the one that is there pretty much all the time but you can only use a coupon once HERO25 (I think).
If you are reasonably willing to buy the rulebooks and haven't used the HERO25. Then that would reduce your price to $202.43 from the amount quoted above. Pretty regularly there is a coupon code listed on the forum. The CURSE people seem reasonably willing to let people sharing them and with them coming out twice a year if you've already grabbed the rest of the books then you can assess whether to wait for a coupon to show up or whether to pay full price for that one.
If you are a critical role fan almost all the coupons are announced there.
I know there would be coupons and stuff, but would prefer to apply that price reduction to an already buy-in-bulk price. It doesn't have to be the same rate as the legendary bundle, but it should be something as I am able to buy over twice the number of books for not even an additional 50% of the price of the rulebooks alone.
I have bought most (if not all) of the rule books, and several of the adventures (I’m running 2 and playing in the 3rd).
What I think would be more useful was a “reduced rule book” that opened up the additional usable content (non-compendium). So, you’d get the full purchase of the rule books and all the classes, subclasses, spells, magic items, etc. from the adventures and rule books. But you couldn’t open up, say Out of the Abyss and read the actual adventure without purchasing it (at a reduced cost). I think this would be a much more used bundle. Considering I only want to buy legendary for the extra races and items.
